Hi, I've got two Toshiba RPTV's, 43VJ13P & 42WH18B, both are stuck in standby when switched on, but give them a kick and they come on eventually. Can't be a dry joint as I have blanket soldered. Can anyone help? |

do you literally kick them?
sounds like cold joints/fracure/loose wiring/plugs, ect.
and you have 2 that do that? weird. |

If it is not solder joints (you have replaced them all?) check all of the capacitors. (especially the electrolytics) |

It is very often the teletext module maybe post a photo of the pcb which is most right seen from behind. And then maybe I can tell you which ist the teletext module. |

the early teletext module's on the 42WH18B are very unreliable and go faulty for a passtime .... in fact out of the hundreds of sets i have looked at that it is fitted to this virtualy always the problem for many issues including stuck in standby as well as some other symptoms ...... the newer replacement teletext module is very reliable in fact out of hundreds of set that it's fitted to i have come across the new type has never gone wrong so far....
to proove it's the teletext module without having to buy a new one first, simply unplug it and take it out .... the set will run perfectly ok without the module in ... u'll just have no teletext on analog TV of course |
