Hi,
I live in Switzerland and have a 220 volt model Technics DVD-A10 that has been modified about 5 years ago to output an SDI datastream immediately after the MPEG decoding. Because of this modification I would like to keep the unit rather than buying a new one.
My problem is the unit is powering off 45 minutes or so into watching a film and thereafter does not turn on. No standby light, no nothing. If I unplug the unit and leave it overnight sometimes the next day it will allow itself to be powered on again but more often not. It basically means the unit is useless to watch films with.
I am not an electronics person at all but it seems to me I may be able to repair it by isolating the problem and swapping out a part. Can people tell me how they would suggest I proceed? If it is too complicated I suppose I could just buy a new unit, but that does mean giving up the high quality SDI output (which is later scaled in a home theater PC).
Best wishes,
Dave M |
