Akai ax550 power amplifier speaker output problems

I have recently got an old akai hifi system, and I am having problems with the power amplifier.

I dont seem to be getting any output on the right speaker. I have tested both of the speakers, and they work fine. Sometimes I get a very very weak distorted signal from the right speaker when I turn the volume up, but It seems to come and go.
I have also tried various inputs, eg cd player, radio and cassette player, and they all only output to the left speaker. I am also getting roughly the same amount of hiss from both speakers when the volume is turned right up without anythng playing or inputting.

If anyone could tell me any solutions, or maybe why this is happening this would help me greatly. It is only for my shed, so I wont buy a replacement because it was given to me as a gift.
