Question about LCD tv's / monitors

Does anyone bother with repair of LCD monitors on this forum
(haven't seen much)? I've got a few of these where I've found defective CCFL transformers, but, my experience has been - "can't
sell you that individual item, but I will sell you the whole board for
$50"....well, obviously by the time you include shipping, the customer's not interested..
Have talked to some transformer distributors, but if you can't provide the exact xformer specs, its hopeless.
Any thoughts?
