connecting DVD recorder to tv via HDMI

HI, we have just bought a pioneer dvd recorder and it has the HDMI component. When we conneted the TV (PDP-R05G) to the Recorder and there is no signal when connected. The HDMI light does not come on when connected. We have lost the manual for the TV so hoping someone might have some advice.

HDMI is processed no differently than Y Pr Pb or your green/red/blue. What kind of set is it? If it's a Pioneer, you need to go into the menu and turn the hdmi on.
