LG DVD writer GSA h10n problem

my Lg dvd-rw wont power on...

on opening it i found the APL-1117 reg overheating,,is there a subtitute for this reg r,is there a way to bypass it..

Any info on the sub will b app,,

Most likely, this is a linear regulator, similar to for example the LM1117.
If it overheats, then the regulator itself is probably not faulty but the basic problem is that its load draws too much current, perhaps there is a short somewhere in the circuitry supplied via this regulator.

Measure the current through the regulator and the voltages before and after it, and compare your measurement results with the values stated in the service manual for the unit as an aid for further troubleshooting.
