Dead pixels on CCD or LCD are common ..even more as the unit ages. I am not aware of any physical repair procedure other than replacement which may still have some.
If affecting the actual picture, it can be easily remedied by software.
not sure if anything newer is in the works?

You can use a lazer to zap a stuck on pixel off, that's about it unless you replace the panel. |
