HI, I'm new and have a simple question. I have a very nice 25' GE console tv (25pm5888p) that no longer displays in the correct colors. I want to remove the TV from the cabnet and dispose of it, and re-use the cabinet.
Is there a shock danger in removing the guts? How do I do it safely? I unpluged the tv about a week ago but have not opened it up.
Thanks in advance, I appricate any ideas or suggestions.

Take a flat head screw driver and put an alligator clip on the screw driver metal and the other end to the metal wire on the back side of the picture tube and use the screw driver to pop the anode lead from the back of the picture tube and it should be smooth sailing from there. |
