hdmi input failure

HELP! My Sony VPL HS51 is installed on my ceiling. the HDMI cable is stretched from the projector on the ceiling to the component stand on the floor in the rear of my theatre room. Last night while watching a movie, the signal stopped and the screen went blank. After playing around with the HDMI connection I found that by moving the cable a tad, I could get signal but that only worked for a few seconds and then I couldn't get it to work at all. So, my question is "Can I get the HDMI input replaced or repaired? Or do I have to send in the unit to Sony to repair which will cost an arm and a leg.
