Hi everyone.
I'm new to this forum and would first like to say that I'm hugely impressed with the level of knowledge evident here.
I have a problem with a Denon UD-M3 cd/receiver unit and as usual, Denon don't seem to want to know about it.
Basically, the power transformer is stuffed and I need a new one but unfortunately, using the Denon part number only gets me an item from the States at an obscene price, so I'm trying to source another, generic unit.
Again, unfortunately, there are no voltages marked on the transformer, so I'm hopeing one of you guys can either point me in the direction of a service manual, or can give me the secondary voltages of the transforme?
I look forward to any info you might have.
Thanks,
Sandy |

Not familiar with the specific one but, I have been able to repair very many transformers(including Denon's) which only had an open fuse in the primary. It may take some time & sometimes may not be possible (if that is what you have?)
Depending on exactly how many secondaries it has, other than looking at the schematic, if you are technically inclined, you can pretty much estimate what the secodary should be by looking at the respective filter capacitors & try to find a match.
(btw, was never a fan of Denon with their "our crap never stinks mentality" either) |

Thanks for the reply vtech.
I'm pretty sure the primary fuse is O.K. and that one of the windings has gone.
The amp has a standard STK chip amp and the transformer is 75VA, so reasonably sure it will be a 30v secondary but as I'm repairing it for a mate, I'd rather be certain of the voltage, before I swap it out.
Anybody know for sure?
Thanks again,
Sandy |

udm3 transformer for the uk is now obsolete. i would agree with vtech that the primary fuse in the tx is probably at fault, failure of the tx is usually caused by the STK output ic |

Hi Gary,
thanks for reply.
However, I am aware that the UK part is not now obtainable.
I've buzzed the transformer and the primary PLUS one of the secondaries is open circuit.
Does anyone know what the secondary voltages are?
