Yes, standby light comes on. When channel button pressed light goes out for approx 2 seconds before coming back on again. the switching on and off is accompanied by relay RL806.

during the brief time the standby light is not lit and the relay is energised, if the ht on the secondary of the psu is not present check the drive waveform on pin 6 of ic801. if this is not present replace the ic, also check for supply on pin 7 of between 10 and 15v

Thanks Gary.
First of all let me check that im testing this correctly.
I am checking all voltages to chassis earth. Is this correct? If so...
IC801 pin 7 = 6v.
I retested at D of Q801 +180v
Both readings are during the 2 seconds of power on.
The schematics show voltages considerably higher.
Something made a loud pop during testing, so I went through all the previous tests but the results are the same. This happened when testing V1 on T802 I think !?
(I still have all my fingers.)
Cheers
Steve

when testing on the primary side of the psu DO NOT use the chassis earth, you should use the the negative pin of the bridge rectifier, this is because the set uses an isolated chassis design with the psu transformer t801 acting as the isolator.

OOPS!!
Ok this time for real.

IC801
pin1 1.8v
pin2 0.6v
pin3 0.4v
pin4 0.3v
pin5 0.25v
pin6 1.1v
pin7 11.3v
pin8 1.1v
pin9 5.5v

T802
P1 335v
P2 335v
V1 0v
V2 0v

I am presuming i need a scope to test waveform on pin6 of IC801?
Cheers
Steve

q804 and q803 have been known to cause problems, check all resistors in psu, especially the high value ones
