resistor continuity

If you place the probes of an ohm meter at each end of a resistor, would you show continuity regardless if the resistior is or isn"t installed in the circuit board? Can I assume that if there is no continuity that the resistor is bad? Thanks for your time and advice.

A resistor is only a passive device and should be measured OUT of the circuit for exact value. Depending on it's value, you would read something on the meter, unless you happen to have a very high value (several megaohm) resistor that is out of the range of most meters & may not register anything.

Suggest learning about how to read color codes. This way you will know the actuall value & can use a meter as a "spot check" to verify before removing from circuit.
