Does anyone know how to take a compaq 2700 apart? I want to replace the hard drive on the notebook but cannot get it apart.

You must to put outside the cd rom drive and you must to pull outside the hard drive with screwdrives

if your only replacing the harddrive flip the notebook on its back so your lookin at the bottom of the pc the right hand side is where you will remove two screws that hold the dvd drive in and once you have that removed you will see the green or blue harddrive holder... remove the two screws holding the green or blue holder and use plyers to pull the drive out......

Many thanks to the previous poster.. the instructions worked perfectly. Compaq does not provide any instructions on how to replace the drive. did't want to start taking apart the laptop (randomly) since it was not my own.

It's there under the (3) screws on the DVD Drive . but when you slide out the Green tray -2- screws it is a special Compaq Hard Drive QC
