I have a set of fairly expensive Klipsch powered speakers. It is a sub with a built in amp and a couple of smaller speakers that connect up to it. One of the interfaces on the back has been getting a bit loose and has been causing one of the speakers to drop out so I decided to pull it apart and see what I could do.

When I looked inside all of the boards were mounted with screws they also seem to be thickly covered with what would seem to be a glue (I'm not sure). An additional problem is that some of the boards are screwed in and then the tread of the screw seems to have had something put on in which is making it impossible to get the thread through the nut (I'm wondering if it could also be a glue or something).

I'm wondering if this might be a substance that is common in electronics to stop people from easily pulling components apart that can be dissolved in some way?

Not sure of your specifics but just about the only"glue" used in subwoofers is generic "hot glue" applied with a gun. Now on some of the screws, I have seen them use a red or blue locktite which is not difficult to brake loose while hot glue can be reworked with a heat gun if necessary.

Klipsch is a odd duck. If need be you can contact them to send it in for repair. From what I've dealt with, they have been pretty fair.
