I have a 50" Philips Plasma TV which has recently developed horizontal stripes across most of the screen.
TV is a 50PF9630A/37.
The TV is 3 years old and until now has performed flawlessly.
I expect there may be a board that needs replacing (?) as I'm not sure if I'd just be able to identify/replace a single component...
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

(how can I attach a photo?)

Hi,
If I were to label the screen vertically from "0" from the top to "10" at the bottom, I can describe the issue as follows:
From 0-2 there are horizontal stripes (about 15-20 of them), mostly black/red.
From 2-5 everything is fine- i.e. right up to the mid level of the screen
From 5-9 there is a solid, darker shaded band. I can see the picture through it, though.
From 7-10 there are more stripes similar to the top (overlaps some of the solid band).
Any ideas?

Snap a picture and post it. Either it's a bad buffer board or panel.

Hi Minnie,
Any suggestions for where I might post a photo?
I did read the FAQ blurb, but unfortunately I'm only familiar with Hotmail, Yahoo, etc...

I'd suspect the logic board. It's not up and down which rules out the buffer boards but it could still be a x/y sustain panel.

There's one more clue which might help.
Upon turning on the TV, I hear a relay(?) clicking on.
On turning off the TV, I used to hear a clicking.
This clicking at "off" no longer occurs.

Now for the question -
I've checked ebay for this TV's model # and found the following:
They do have a "Logic Main," but I don't see anything labeled x/y or sustain panel. Would this be called something else?

x sustain, y sustain, or y sustain, z sustain. The panel is just that, the panel.

Sorry to sound dense - but the panel - is that the screen itself (and not a board) inasmuch as it's something that cannot be repaired?
