Hi!
First what comes to mind is that power supply had gone bad. And so it
can be 2 cases:
1)The problem is located in a "hot" part of power supply. The sound you
described says that the TV begins to start and then shuts down.In this case is
necessary to check the feedback circuit elements like photocouple, transistors
and diodes.Except it replace the electrolythic capicators in "hot" part.
2)The problem is located in one of secondary power circuits.Possible short-circuit or
bad electrolythic capicators.Check the circuits with multimeter.

i bought this rear projection tv a few weeks ago used, and yesterday while i was watching it, the screen went black and it started chirping. chirps over and over when i turn it on. i've been reading posts and have found some useful info, but i am a novice when it comes to electronics. i'm sure i can fix the problem, but i need diagrams, pictures, anything that will show me what each and every part is. i'm guessing it has something to do with the power supply, but i can't get my head in the cabinet close enough to locate with my ears exactly what is chirping. furthermore, i don't really want to put my head inside a big ass tv while it's plugged in. can anyone help? |

I would check the high voltage block, it is common in rca projections that this part goes down....it hooks to flyback and the 3 guns(small crt's), unplug and remove 1 wire at time, if it is arched black, the wire lead that is, replace block, you push and turn to remove them, don't mix up wires as to where they go either.
