Hi,

Last night watching tv I noticed a slight colour distorsion in the bottom corners of the screen. What was supposed to be green was showing as blue. I turned the TV off, switched it back on this evening and now the distortion is much worse. When I turn the TV on there's a big red circle in the middle of the screen which is surrounded concentrically by a green circle, then a further blue circle at the edges of the screen. When we turn on Sky theres a picture but the colours are massively distorted as per the above colours.

Google search suggests some sort of magnetic problem but the tv hasn't moved and nothing around it has.

Anyone any ideas? Is it knackered?

Move any speakers away from the tv. Every time when the set is cold it degausses the crt. "Keeps the purity correct." Turn it off and on and it should self degauss. If not you'll have to manually degauss the set.

Remember that, in order to activate the degaussing circuit, you will have to turn the tv off by the main switch, not by the remote. And leave it off for at least 15 minutes so that the PTC resistor has time to cool down.
If the tv doesn't have any main switch (just the remote and "soft" standby button), then you have to unplug it from the mains for 15 minutes.
