Hi all,
I,ve got this MP514LC which gives me some sound problems. As you switch on the TV the sound is badly distorted. A lot of scratching etc as they speek or music plays or it just plainly dissapears . After a while it seems that the sound returns to normal, assuming something needs to heat up or something.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated, you must please keep in mind that my electronics knowledge are quite basic. But this situations I find to be quite fantastic to learn more. Thus I'm throwing myself in the deep end here.
Kind Regards, |

Hi minnie
I have tried the speakers. I opened the back and disconnected the current speakers of the tv set. I then cut and stripped open the wiring in such a way that I could use the plug and connect my Hi-Fi speker to test it with ( did not have the same plug type around). Same thing occurs.
If we tap the tv set in front or play with the antenna connection at the back the sound seems to come back. This brings to mind that something somewhere might not be making sufficient contact. Just remember that I also said that after a while everything return to normal assuming something heats up.

Minnie you there?
I seem to have fixed the problem I downloaded the drawings you have for this Telefunken MP514LC with the TX80.5 chassis. I had a look at the AF Out circuitry and went down to component level testing. Half way I found the transistor TA04 was loose on all three terminals. I previously thought there was somethiung not making contact, and there it was, when we hit it, it seemed to work but only for a little while. The cap just behind it seemed to have burned black but is working fine. The transistor must have arched a lot thus generating quite a lot of heat (correct me if I'm wrong).
But now I have another problem. Seems that somewhere in my looking for the problem I must have messed up the screen. The picture is shifted to the right and on the right hand side there is a reddish color on the screen. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks for the site, I'm going to be a electronics Fundi quite quick. |
