there is a discoloration on my tv, near the speakers.

The discolouration is caused by the magnetic field from your speaker magnets, move the speakers at least 2 to 3 feet away from the T/V. That will cure your (purity) you call discolouration on your T/V. You may have to use a degaussing wand which gives you a magnetic field to wave in front of the T/V to permently cure your purity problem. I do hope this answer helps you, your friend Brian Luck. Actually, every color TV has a built in degaussing circuit which activates each time the TV is turned on. You do not need an external degausing coil.

Not true. Any external magnetism can override the degaussing circuit and in particular the ptc or ntc. A faulty positor will no longer degauss and any Purity patch present for longer than six months can become a permanent fixture regardless of an inbuilt degaussing circuit.

The degaussing wand will also remove any residue magnetism that the degauss circuit is unable to.
