|
|
Hello all,
I have a Sony KV-36FV27 that was working perfectly fine. All of a sudden one morning it would not turn on. I opened up the back and saw that the fuse was burned black, so I took it out and got a replacement from RadioShack. When I put the new fuse in and plugged the power cord, the TV turned on for a brief second and then died again. The replacement fuse was also blown.
I'm no electrician, but am hoping that there is some easy fix for this. I'm guessing something is short-circuiting somewhere. I called the repair guys and they are asking for $250 to just come in and diagnose the problem.
Thanks, |

Assuming you have access to a DVM, you could test for shorts yourself. For starters, check bridge rectifier and other semiconductors in the power supply. Check secondary voltage sources for very low ohm readings. Also check horizontal output device (base - emitter should be very low). |

More than likely you have a bad regulator. |
