Hitachi L42VC04U H grainy picture problen

I have recently purchased this tv the picture watching sports or programms filmed outside is excellent but when there is a scene that is shot indoors the picture often appears grainy and poor quality, has anyone else encountered this?

If the picture looks good on some but not others, it's not the television it's the source. The tv doesn't discriminate, it shows you what you what you put in it.
