Hi all,
I'm a newcomer to this forum and I could use some help fixing a TV I recently purchased off craigslist. It turns on and works fine, but the convergence is majorly screwed up. Things are at angles, colors don't line up, etc. I was told this upon purchase and got a terrific deal on it, but I'm at a loss now as how to fix this.
The front knobs do nothing helpful. Flash focus can't seem to do anything either. A local service center adjusted the convergence in the service menu and saved the values. They charged $135 for this. This was back in late '06. I was told it was done there again somewhat recently but at that time they recommended replacement.
If anyone could suggest where I start I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I'm not sure if this is appropriate to ask, but if anyone has a PDF of the service manual (not the owners manual) that would be a big help.
Thanks!

Hi Paul,
Thanks, but I can find the same manual for $5, I was just hoping someone out there might have a link to a free PDF of it. I also could use a walkthrough to get this thing converged using the in menu option. I know how to get it into the right mode but I'm at a loss once I'm there.
Thanks all,

Start by replacing the STK392-150's and checking the resistors and pico fuses under the heat sinks. |

I'm on my way out the door, but if I take a picture of the boards and post them, could you point to what is what? My knowledge of this TV is limited.
Thanks for the reply,

Hey again all,
I took a picture of the back of the TV. Could someone please point out where the STK392-150's are and where I can purchase them? Also, a link on how to install them if one exists? Thanks for any help!

The convergence IC's are on the "D" board. The D board is on the left hand side with the back off. They occupy the largest heat sink. |

Hey Jts,
Thanks for the reply. Once they come in and I put them on, are there any procedures that I need to follow to get this convergence back to normal? Should the flash focus work afterwards? |
