akura ABLDVD3220WHD sound problem

my recently purchased akura abldvd3220whd has suddenly lost all sound. as the company i purchased it from has gone into liquidation (BDC) i have approached akura to fix under the manufacturers warranty. they say the warranty was purchased by BDC they can only supply the parts FOC and would charged in excess of £70 for labour.

i believe this is a common fault on this model.

anyboday any cheaper ideas how to get fixed?
