Hi you all,

I bought a second-hand videorecorder ("Philips VR 810 Hifi Stereo") yesterday.

I found the manual on the internet.

However, the remote control that is on the drawing of the manual is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from the remote control that the seller gave me. She was sure that it was the right remote control.

I called Philips, the supplier already. It seams that is no "universal remote controller" of thèm.

The remote contr that I got from the seller is MUCH SIMPLER than the remote controller on the drawing in the manual.

Does this mean it is the wrong remote controller?

Picture of remote controller in the MANUAL for Philips VR 810:

Picture of the remote controller I got (totally DIFFERENT as you can see from the drawing in the manual!!).

Yes, I don't even see "operation" (Play/FF/REW) buttons.
Looks like a television remote based on labeled buttons.

Hi, thank you for you answer.

Are you very very sure this can't be another universal remote control?

Is it ALWAYS necessary to have FF Play Menu etc labels on the remote contol?

(the seller told me she was very sure it was the right remote control, but I am really afraid now that was not telling the truth??)

No, I paid cash: I found it via an ad online, and yesterday, I went to get the devices at the daughters of the sellers home....

I already sent messages today to aks for more information, but she is working....

I want to give it back, but she will not accept I'm afraid because she's convinced it is the right remote control....

PS it was only € 20 (+/- $ 20) but when it doesn't work, that is € 20 too much!!! I don't want to look for a remote control on top of it when it was included. Moreover, I drove enough miles yesterday to go get it.

I'm a little bit angry, and don't understand what went wrong: the lady sounded very honoust I must say, and she gave me the adress of her daughter etc so she is rather "open" I think. She must be really convinced that is the right one. I'm afraid to call, because since yesterday I'm "nagging" about the remote control to her... Shocked

An add online......Well, since you paid cash its highly unlikely you're going to get your money back, see if you can leave feedback for the seller.
Where was the add?

On a site in Belgium, www.kapaza.be

But like I was saying, I don't know if maybe it's a universal remote.... Maybe some of the buttons have the OK and Menu function?

Anyway, it's very unclear......

PS if it turns out to be the wrong remote, of course I will give feedback publically...

As I posted earlier you would be willing to get up, walk across the room and manually hit "Pause" or "Stop" when the phone rings? I wouldn't think so.

Sometimes the Brand and model number of the remote is inside the battery compartment. If it is you could find out more about the remote.
