OK here's one for the older guys...I'm one myself with very little knowledge....

I just got my hands on an old pioneer car 8 track tape player that would not power up. inside a little box located on the outside back of the player where the power cords go I found one of the connection wires on a little green capacitor had broken off. I'm thinking this is the problem . It was to short to resolder so i removed it thinking I could find one a radio shack but they knew nothing.. It is a green round barrell like capicitor with the connection wires coming out of the middle rather that the ends.. the only writing I can find on it is "150M" with another "M" underneath the 150M.

anybody have any ideas ??

Thanks

Tim

A picture is worth a thousand words...
Could it be a coil or choke?
Do you know which wire its on and if its in parallel/series with something (If power wire and "capacitor" is in series ... "capacitors" don't pass D.C.)?

Just curious, what are you going to do with an 8-track player?

My guess... He's going to play 8-track tapes.

If it is capable of recording...Maybe he's going to transfer his MP3's and other newer media to good old (and I DO mean old) tape. Smile

Actually I am going to put it in my 1970 Ford econoline van... Even if I never get the player to work .. It would be part of the van restoration. the player only cost 5 bucks so I can still put money into it and not get hurt to bad...
