Ok , I'm trying to find some information on the above amp , the one I have has developed a severe humm / static coming through the speaker when turned on with or without guitar pluged in . I'm assuming it is the transformer .The transformer is showing 16.4 volt ac on both + leads . question is what should the output be for this transformer of does anyone have a service manual / wiring schematics diagram for this amp . I contacted fender company and was told they had no longer had information on this amp and could not offer any suggestions . Any help would be appreciated.Also if I apper to be lokingin the wrong direction with the transformer being the problem I'd appreciate any suggetions on other possible causes .
Thanks
Fort

O.K. Fort,
1st I going to presume that your fed up with all of the jokes - it humms cause it doesn't know the words, etc, etc.. So having said that, the 1st place to look is the two largest Capacitors. These are the grayish "cans" with the silver tops. Do either of them appear to be swollen? I am directing you to these because these parts are what are commly called "FILTER Capacitors. These devices "filter" out any 60 cycle from the D.C. supply. If one of these goes bad the amp humms ALL of the time - with or without the guitar plugged in. You did not mention if the hum increases with volume. I am currently fixing this exact same problem with a buddies Champ 15 - so I know of what I speak. ([email protected])

I'd also be very keen to know what the specifications are for the original transformer. I have just acquired a frontman 15g with a power transfrormer whose primary has gone open circuit .
As I obviously cant power the thing up , I can't measure what the secondary voltages should be . It is marked "Frontman15"&"DK-230" .

Anyone have any info on the specs of this tx?

Cheers

Posting on a 3 yr old thread;
Secondary electrolytics will give you an idea of what the voltage should be.
A little search finds a Frontman 15G HERE
and a Squire15 HERE
