One more thing - in the service manual SUBTRANS section, C405 is shown but instead of a value under it (like the other caps) it says 'S1 &1'. If this is a footnote reference I cannot find what it refers to.

After replacing C405 the unit was still remembering the old power problem that originally caused it to shut down. So it kept shutting down based on the memory of the problem.

DIAG option 9 needs to be set to RSVD (reserved) rather than INHI (inhibit) and then shut off the power. This clears the memory of the error indication. Next time I powered it up, it worked a treat!

Thanks everyone here for all the advice.

Thank you so much Elkos. My Yamaha RX-V750 was dead and your solution saved me. I did not have the 0,022uF 630V capacitor, so I changed it with a 0,016uF 1kV and now my amplifier is alive again.
Thanks a lot for sharing the solution from Italy! Razz Razz Razz

Gents, l was working on the very same unit, with same problem.

Battling for 2 days and no luck.
then l come across your Forum, it help me greatly.
Replaced all the electrplytic caps, and mainly C446, l think is right, polycarbonate cap 223m. that was down to 6.4nF, when l check with capacitance meter.
Thank you for your feed back, and l hope my comment will help someone alls.

Hi Guys,

I'm having a struggle with my Yamaha DSP-AX750SE whihc sounds similar to the issues that have been discussed on this forum.

The amp has been in storage for a few years and I brought it out to set up some tunes in my gym.

When I tun it on it powers up fine and then always shuts down after about 2 seconds.

I managed to get it to work one time but since then it just keeps shutting down, even with no speakers connected.

Based on the advice on this thread I have just replaced the c405 capacitor and sadly it has not fixed the problem.

Any other suggestions before I bite the bullet and get something else. It has hardly been used and is in otherwise pristine condition so I'd rather try to save it then junk it!

Thanks in advance
Olly

C405 capacitor is very important to proper standby voltage. Install new , even if original looks fine. By the way- on the C406 should be not less as 7.00 VDC, and sometimes add extra capacity to the C411 will help. For sure, check all ground connections, especially on the main and on the DSP module. Hello. Just wanted to say thank you!!! I had exactly the symptoms described in this thread with my RX-650, in particular, the unit would only power on maybe once in a 20 times, then got progressively worse. When it wouldn't turn on, the "Pure Direct" button would blink ever so softly blue (only visible in the dark). I am a total novice to this sort of thing, but I went to the electronics store, bought the capacitor for C405 as described, desoldered, then installed the new one and WOW, like magic, the trusty RX-650 is risen from the dead. How good is the Internet??? Very Happy
