Where did you order a main board from for $105.00?

I happened to come across an ebay auction for it while I was looking for a parts TV with a cracked display. I started looking up main boards last night since I haven't seen a parts TV in about 2 weeks (I was a little too late for that auction).

I had come across a few in the $120-$130 range and I just happened to stumble across the one that I got. It was pulled from a TV with a cracked display (but still worked otherwise).

I'll be glad if this works and I can fix it for only $105, because I'm kind of ticked that my TV only came with a one year warranty. It was almost $1000 when I got it. I don't think that I'll be getting another Vizio again (unless a one year warranty is standard on LCD TVs now...). An extended warranty might have been worth it in retrospect Wink

Update:

Well, the main board didn't work. I still have the same problem. I guess now I'll just have to start swapping parts - which one to get next... Confused

Time for a little trial-and-error Laughing

I still have a plan in motion...

A little earlier I ordered a power supply and I'm going to try swapping that out. I'm now thinking that maybe the power supply isn't providing enough power to the main board.

And if I acquire a few extra parts along the way, then I'll be prepared for the next time that a component goes bad in the TV.

If I can get it fixed this way then It'll still work out OK in the end, because the cost of almost all of the internal parts will be roughly around 1/4 of the cost of the TV when I bought it new. Likewise it'll only roughly be around 1/3 of the cost or less of buying a new TV.

I'll post updates after I receive and put in the new power supply.

Glad you are hanging in there. I hope you find the problem.

Update:

Well, the TV is officially dead and unrepairable (mainly because now it would cost me more than the TV is worth to fix it - provided that I could even get the part).

Either the LCD panel or the main inverter boards (there's 2 of them - a left and a right feeding 3 fields each) is/are dead. And unfortunately the inverter boards are permanently attached to the LCD panel on this model. What a stupid design. If I could find one of these assemblies I'm guessing it would probably run me at least $600.

I've replaced all of the other parts in the TV so far and I still get the same result. No picture or sound. So now I have 2 sets of parts for this TV that I'll have to try to sell...

I'm still pissed that such expensive TVs only come with a 1 year warranty. My next TV will probably be a 32" so that if it breaks after 2 years then I'll only be out about $400 or so. If a 2nd one died after 2 years again I probably would never buy another LCD TV.

My advice to people: stay away from cheap junk like Vizio!!
Spend a little extra money on a better quality TV and get an extended service plan.

I'm looking at getting a Sony with a 5 year service plan for it. Or maybe I'll just go back to a reliable CRT TV and wait like 10 years for LCD TV manufacturers to work all the kinks out.

I sell more Vizio TV service manuals than all other manufacturers combined.

This just helps to reinforce my comment earlier that Vizio TVs are junk.

IF you tell me the TV brand that you sell the least amount of manuals for I'd be inclined to buy one of those TVs.
