My hope was that this is a common failure, whether the model is US, European, Japanese or whichever.
The fix should be applicable even to different model of the TV set like KV-29F3D, especially if it has the same chassis (BE-3D).
The only difference may be in features: e.g. my set does not support Dolby Pro Logic.
I expected that similar (if not the same) things should be inspected to troubleshoot error #8, regardless of the TV set "geographicality".
How about giving me "best educated guess"?
Thanks. |

If 8 blinks means a fault with the tuner I'd replace the tuner. |

The model is too old, I can't buy new tuner board.
Apart from that, it's price would be far above than TV set is worth. |

OK.
Your problem it's related to dry joints located in tuner board or may be
that the Tuning Synthesizer is damaged, therefore the MCU says
8 LED Flashes beause can't "Communicate" with that IC.
Try to find a Tuner Board where TV Sets are disposed for Recycling.

Sad
If you're lucky enough you can find one similar set equipped with same chassis.

(That model of Sony isn't "too old" but replacing parts may be hard to find
or to much expensive) |

The_AntiRAM, thank you for the most useful suggestions.
Of course, first I'll try to check for dry joints.
If that fails to give results, there's a disposal of "bio-dangerous" electrical equipment nerby in my city, so will try to find the matching set with (hopefully) working tuner...
Didn't know that this set is not "too old" for finding replacement parts, though.
Thanks for the reply.
Best Regards. |
