I came across a post from 2007 concerning an RCA D52W20 RPTV. Here is the post. http://forum.eserviceinfo.com/viewtopic.php?p=49531 I’m particularly interested in this reply to the post:

“In that case. do what minnie said and remove the speaker cover of the front of the set (just pull it)
There is a plastic cover (quite large) screwed on to the front.
Behind it is the Guns and a panel with adjustments for FOCUS and BRIGHTNESS for each gun.

You may need two of you, one person to sit back and take a look while you adjust the focus and brightness.

I sugest turning the brightness down on all guns so the screen goes black.

Turn the brightness up on the red gun a little until you can see the picture. Adjust the focus if neccesary to get a sharp picture.
Turn the brightness back down again and go on to the next colour.

Do this with all guns. Once you have finished, turn up the brightness one by one but not to much. just enough to be able to see the picture. Use the brightness adjustment on the remote to bring it up to a decent viewing level.

Let me know if this does or doesn't sort it.”

I’ve brought this tv a long way since getting a Blu-Ray player for Christmas. It looks a lot better than before, but I can tell it can still improve. I’ve adjusted the Geometry to greatly reduce the enormous amount of overscan this tv gets at 1080i. I’ve done manual convergence and gotten it to look the best I can. There are just a few problems.

The reds still bleed a little and are a bit too bright. The biggest problem is that there is still a lack of focus. It seems that I see a sort of “repetition” of images. This is mostly noticeable on faces. There seems to be a faint line that closely runs along. When I am adjusting manual convergence in the service menu, I have a really hard time with the blue convergence because the lines are so wide. Would the above procedure help with these particular problems?

Also, do you have any additional tips for display settings, color, geometry, etc that might give me a better picture?

Thank you for your time!
