A CRC error means that the data couldn't be read off the disc or other media.

If you're copying a file off the disc, and it says the CRC error occurred while reading, then you have a dirty disc. Wipe it off on your shirt or something - fingerprints are FAR WORSE for a disc than light scratches caused by cleaning off said fingerprints. If you're paranoid, use a soft damp rag (water can't hurt a CD's shiny side - but don't wipe the label side too hard - the label side actually has the data on it!).

If you're copying from drive to drive (unlikely since you said it's a CD, but I'm saying it anyway for anyone else that drops by), and you get a CRC error while reading, that's indicating a bad sector on the drive. Basically all you can do in that case is cut your losses, backup your readable data, and replace the drive you're copying the file from.

Hope this helps! Smile

A CRC error is typically caused by a dirty, scratched or otherwise damaged disc. If cleaning doesn't cure the error it could be a bad press and should be returned for exchange.
The method which i found to solve is below:
Step 1: Download the file or files that are corrupted again.

Step 2: Extract using WINRAR. Problem should be solved.

When a CD is unreadable, you should try it in another CD-ROM drive - different drives read differently (try a friends computer)

Google for a program called CDCheck.exe - free - sometimes works (also good for hard drives)

You can also wash the CD in warm water, dry it off and retest it. I've saved a lot of CD's this way.
