Wouldn't come out of standby yesterday.

Today it's totally dead.

Any ideas?

Have you got test equipment and are you technical ?
Check fuses, power supply output, PSU transistor, LOP transistor.

Hi there I'm not exactly sure of the chassis used in this model but a very common problem with recent Hitachi sets has been dry joints on the 12volt regulator situated roughly in the centre of the chassis.this will give the exact symptoms you describe where the set will sometimes intermittently fail to switch on.A visual inspection of the board will show the fault as usually the dry joint is very obvious.
As a point though I always solder up all the joints on the regulators here plus the transformers too.
