whirlpool washer not discharging water

My Whirlpool, max size tub,washer won't discharge the water. It's about 20-23 years old. Serial # C54902043 and model #LA5805XPW1. We have it apart and have disconnected the two hoses from what we think is the pump, but we have no diagram to work with. Please tell us what to do next to figure out what could be wrong. Also, we found two wires disconnected, a white one and a blue one. There doesn't appear to be anywhere to plug them back in. -Karen
