Philips 27PT6441/37 TV loud popping noise, sparks ...

I have a Philips 27PT6441/37 that a relative just gave me.
When trying to turn the power on, it makes a loud poping noise, and from the back, I can see sparks towards the top. I have to pull the plug for it to stop.
I am seeing a lot of reviews about this TV and the fuse problem it has, but that's at the bottom of the TV near the power cord, not at the top. I haven't found anyone with the same problem as mine yet, and could really use some help.
