JVC 32WFP1EK w/s TV st/by only - Help!

This evening my JVC defaulted to standby. It started with the picture not fitting the screen. The verticals were warped and about 20% of the screen missing each end. I tried various zoom modes with little effect. After about 30 mins The picture colour became 'washed out'. Eventually the TV went into standby mode. I haven't got the balls to switch it back on. Please help!....
