Help, I am having problems with my Sony STR-DE945

My Sony STR-DE945 audio receiver has just begun to get tempermental in it's IR remote control area. I don't think that it is the remote controls because, I use 3 different ones and they are all having on and off problems communicating with the receiver. Could the IR receiving unit on the receiver be going bad little by little?

Is the action (or lack thereof) intermittant? If so, it is likely a bad solder joint. The IR sensors usually either work or they don't. I had a problem with mine after two years, where one set of speaker outputs would cut on and off. I traced the problem to a bad solder joint on the speaker selector relay. I re-soldered it and problems no more!
