Sony Kdl46Z4100 bad panel

I have a Sony model KDL46z4100 that is about 16 months old and the LCD assembly needs replaced. I called Sony's customer relations 3 times and finally they said they would cover the $900 of the $2,300 cost to replacet the panel.
The first question has anyone else had similar problems with their Sony brand LCD panel? And secondly does anyone have any information as to how to get this problem kicked up to a higher level of support other than "customer relations" ?

It's either a A-1700-297-A $1,775.00 or 1-802-770-31 $2,063.98 or 1-802-639-12 $1,573.00 panel. If they told you $2300 their lying. As them about a refurbished panel.
