tv black screen

I have a 52" Hitachi big screen from 1992. My problem is this recntly on cable television only (not DVD or VHS) the screen will flicker to black, i can still change the channel and get volume just fine. then after a while the screen will come back to picture. Sometimes i can tap the side and that will fix it and most of the time the problem seems to go away after about an hour or two of it being on and me tapping a few dozen times. Please help with possible trouble shooting and ideas on how to repai(hopefully myself).

You have dry joints in the TV's PCB. Take a good lok at the copper side of the PCB(use a magnifying glass). Resolder dry joints. Specially look at the PCB connected to the tube neck as well. When you do that n longer need to tap the TV. Good luck
