Denon A/V receiver AVR-1604/684 no digital audio

Hi, When I have a digital input, either COAX or optic, I am not getting any sound in any mode. This includes stereo, 6 ch surround etc.
Analogue input and tuner is all OK.

When I have a digital input, the 'digital' on the display is shown indicating a digital input, but nothing going to speakers.

Test tone also not working.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Just an update. When I plug in an analogue source I am able to play it in stereo and direct but not in surround.

The relays click in, but no sound on either speaker.
