I have a DVD/hard disk recorder (Sansui DVR5013H) that keeps failing. It freezes up or won't turn on. I have fixed it about 5 times in the past by replacing bulging electrolytic capacitors in the power supply but it keeps happening every few months. What are the common causes for electrolytic capacitors to keep failing in this way? I have already replaced all of the physically larger capacitors in the power supply but haven't replaced the small capacitors.

Are you replacing electrolytics "like with like" in regards to ratings, or are you upgrading to higher?
Are power supply voltages within spec? Cool

Replacing with the same values, although the originals were 85 degree and I am now fitting 105 degree. The output voltages seem fine. Should I replace with higher voltage caps?

If an edge connector has a pin that's marked 12V and you're measuring 24V, I'd check that out 1st.

85 to 105 is good.
