I have a Magnavox 20MT1331/17 and all of a sudden one day when i turned it on the picture moved to the bottom of the screen. There is a 3 inch black bar at the top of my screen. I'm more familiar with computers since i never repaired a tv before. But i refuse to go to a ripoff tv repair shop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

Since you refuse to go to a "rip off tv shop", just purchase another tv. A 20" television generally isn't worth the money to have repaired.

If you don't know how to repair it then don't respond. Not to be a dick or nethin but I'm trying to find out how to fix a vertical deflection problem. I have wrote to many forums but I can't seem to get any good help. Smile

I most definitely know how to repair a vertical deflection problem, but when you start off with "i refuse to go to a ripoff tv repair shop", you won't get much help from a "ripoff tv repair shop". After 46 years in the service of electronics, we don't appreciate those terms used and then expect help. I won't respond again, but maybe someone else will feel sorry for you.

Enought of who can piss the fartherest, what about those magnavox 20 inchers model 20mt1331/17. I bought one brand new and it never ever worked at all. We all got ripped off. Why bother getting ripped off more by paying high labor costs to TV repairers when you can buy from a more trustworthy brand. I read loads of complaints on this model. It is a lemon.

from techguy. suspect a component(an electrolytic capacitor?)may have failed, causing the viewed picture to shift downwards. are these magnavox monitors really as bad as stated? i have some opinions on other makes of equipment: morphy richards tv's (mid 80's)--should have kept making hairdryers!... goodmans... should have really stayed making those once excelllent real wood cabinet speakers!....electronic components: maxim...should have kept making machine guns, nowadys perhaps not.is it also a case of magnavox'''should have kept making ancient reel-to-reel tape recorders?????
