Canon FS200 lens cover not opening

I have a Canon FS200 which has worked well for the past 2 years. It has an automatic lens cover - which open when the power is turned on, and closes when the power is turned off. Now, when I power it on, the lens cover will not open. I can pull it down with my fingers, but it goes back up when I let it go - there's no catch to hold it in place. If I can get a hold of a service manual or any suggestions it would be great
