Compaq Armada e500 will not boot

have replace the ac power supply with a new one, when you press the power switch, there is no beeping only the battery light blinks, don’t want to spend $100.00 on a new battery if it’s not going to fix the problem.

Has any one experience this before any assistance will be greatly appreciated Thanks?
