I have a Sony Compact AV system model DAV-SC6 and it is stuck in standby with the 'standby' message flashing. It will reset if I disconnect it and all other functions bar DVD play work. If I try DVD after reset it simply jams again in standby.
I have searched the forum and believe the AV decoder chip is defective as happened on SC5 and SC8 models. Fix seems to be either replace the decoder chip (identified on SC5 and SC8 as IC206), or I have seen suggestion that an 820 ohm resistor can be soldered between pin 203 of IC206 and the 3.3v line? I have an 820 ohm resistor but with the SC6 board the main chip is an IC208. I can't locate an IC206? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks for that service manual. I have found the part and the fix is best described here:

I used to see this problem all the time when I was dealing with consumer electronics. It all has to do with the same DVD decoder IC206 ZIVA5 manufactured by LSI and used on several models.
Originally there was a bulletin that only referred to a batch of ZIVA decoders with a specific date code but, in my experience that was not the case and I saw it on other models...

I've previously covered this on another thread
