Black Diamond TV no picture and whining noise

Hi,

my mother-in-laws TV has gone on the blink.
There is no picture and a high pitch whining noise
when you switch it on. I am sure she wills these things to break
just at the most expensive time of year

What is likely to be the problem and would it be easy/cheap to fix?
I may be better going and buying a new one?

are you a technician!!!!

the problem is in the power supply section. a diode near the regulator

if your a tech. you can check it..

it not i'm sure you know what to do!

No I don't know what 2 do!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it an easy fix for a teccy? Or am I better to juet get a new telly?
