JVC HR-J217MS VCR - no color recording

Hi,

I've the above vcr that works fine except it wouldn't record in color. ie. picture recorded by this vcr will play back in B/W.

Pre-recorded tapes by other recorders work fine.

Its not the antenna signal problem since I can monitor the signal in color. i've also swapped to other TV and the problem stays.

I opened the set up but there isn't any adjustment for color AGC... everything is done auto by an IC BA7182AS. Could this IC be faulty?

What could be wrong??
