Nissan Primera Estate

hi All,
I have a 2003 Primera, and the dashboard has buttons for a phone connection, and a map button for sat nav, but neither of these work??? Am I missing something here? It seems a bit daft to have these buttons if there is no function to them. Do I need to take the car to Nissan to have these activated?

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated, I assumed these were would work when I bought the car.

Perhaps manufacturer made just one dashboard, and only actually attached sat/nav as requested options
