Eclipse ex1980 monitor, green led but no picture

Yesterday i ran into kind of a problem with one of my monitors. After disconnecting the signal-cable to the monitor it said no signal on the screen. After about a minute or so the monitor was switching to stand-by mode. But then the picture of the monitor flashed in white and turned into a small white spot in the middle of the screen and then disapeared. A distinct smell came from the back of the monitor.
When i turned the power off and then back on, the green led on the front lights up, and after some seconds i can hear the relay click but i get no picture at all. Anyone up for a guess what is the problem? oh and the button on the front doesn't work..
