Sony STR-DA80ES Receiver – Remote volume control sticking

Hi all.
I have just noticed that when I adjust the volume with the remote control the external volume control on the unit sticks. If I keep holding down button on the remote the volume knob will move after 3-4 seconds. It will stick more or less at the same position each time. There is a small motor that control the knob in the unit. Any ideas to repair it? I have tried blowing it out. I think some WD-40 might fix it but I am sure it is not the proper lub.
There has to be a simple fix for this great receiver!!!
