Hi All
I have two Boss/Roland BR-8 recorders that have the following symptoms:
Erratic behavior at power on. Sometimes the units will work for a few minutes, then lock up. Other times they will power up but with a blank screen. On occasion they will power off on their own.
By accident I discovered that if I lift flex the main (digital) board a certain way they seem to work normally. (Both units)
I have re-soldered every possible suspect component including the CPU, regulators, cable connectors, etc. with no change.
I have inspected under high magnification the entire main board on one of the units.
I'm baffled. One thought I had was possible damage to the circuit board VIA's. There are tons of them. Maybe one of them opened up as a result of a design fault.
I see plenty of these on other web sites with the same symptoms.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike |
